After completing a citywide stormwater Master Plan for Greenville, NC across its entire 35 square mile jurisdiction, WK Dickson served as the engineer to retrofit the Town Creek watershed, which encompasses the majority of the uptown area that is quickly redeveloping. Because this area was prone to flooding that causes safety, as well as property damage issues, a system-wide solution was required. Instead of defaulting to using solely a gray infrastructure solution, we completed a design that integrates Regenerative Stormwater Conveyances, culvert ‘daylighting,’ and a variety of Green Infrastructure retrofits (e.g. rain gardens, wetlands, and bio-retention structures) with traditional infrastructure retrofit techniques.
